Mrs. Holly McShane
Go BIG or go home! :) This is my mindset as I plan for our future during this incredibly exciting year of graduation for YOU, the Class of 2019! You have such BIG potential and dreams and my mission is to help you accomplish all your goals as you experience your last year of high school! We are going to make every second count while creating GOOD memories and experiences of your final year.
I am SO excited to work with you again! As you may have heard, the Counselor’s caseloads have been reassigned and I will serve all of the Seniors this school year. I am committed to ensuring you have what you need to have the best Senior year possible at HCHS.
Here are some ideas on what you “might” need: Senior year graduation planning conferences, schedule adjustments, college visits and applications, recommendation forms, transcripts, scholarships and financial aid, work experience, Accuplacer/ACT/SAT tests… all the housekeeping items you may need to be prepared and informed.
As a Counselor for over three decades, I know that EVERY Senior also experiences some level of stress during this dynamic year. Here are some other ideas on what you might experience and how I can be a support and listening ear for you: stress (from personal to academic), changes in your family structure, changes in your friendships or social groups, struggles with your classes, not knowing how to begin to apply for college and feeling too embarrassed to ask, depression, feeling overwhelmed, & any other experience that has the potential to get you off course from your graduation goals. I promise to work with you to help support you and find positive ways to problem solve whatever situation you find yourself facing.
Parents: thank you for trusting me with your Senior as we navigate this amazing milestone! Whether your Senior is your first child to graduate or your last, I am here to help you with any concerns you may have. Recently, my oldest daughter graduated from college and my youngest child is also a Class of 2019 Senior at HCHS, so I understand how emotional, exciting and confusing this process of Seniors graduating and moving on to their post secondary goals can be! I am thrilled to be experiencing this journey alongside of you!
Holly H. McShane,
Senior Class of 2019
Mrs. Jalen Hulsey
Hello! I am so excited to enter my third year of counseling at HCHS and specifically to be the Junior counselor for the 2018-2019 school year.
I am a Raider myself as a 2011 graduate of HCHS. I went on to get my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology at the University of Georgia and loved it so much I stayed to get my Masters degree in School Counseling as well. Glory glory to ole Georgia. Currently I am also in school pursuing an educational specialist degree in school counseling. I am also a National Certified Counselor.
It is my goal for all students at HCHS to feel supported, cared for, and valued in all aspects of their lives. Our counseling team provides a variety of services in the form of classroom guidance, small group services, individual counseling, referrals, etc. to help reach this goal and to help our students through all stages of their academic, career/college, and personal/social development.
Our doors are open, our phones are on, and our e mails are up. Please let us know if there is any way we can help you!
Mr. Donnie Bennett
My name is Donnie Bennett and I am proud to be a counselor here at Habersham Central High School. I will do academic counseling for students with last names beginning with N-Z.
I have been an educator for 21 years and a counselor for the last 14. During my career, I have been both a high school counselor and a middle school counselor. I have a firm understanding of where our students are and how to get them where they want to be. My personal and professional mission is to help all of our students be more successful than they ever dreamed possible.
Here at HCHS, I will provide individual counseling, small group activities, large group activities, and classroom guidance opportunities. I will also team up with community experts to help provide both student and parent learning opportunities. Look for information about these events on our sign, our web site, and local news outlets.
My office is at your service. If not an emergency, parents and students are encouraged to contact me to set up an appointment at least one day in advance to allow for planning. Call me at 706-778-7161 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
